Dog training in Kingston Cobham & Weybridge area
Does your dog | Or is your dog |
---|---|
• Take you for a walk? | • Anxious if you leave the house? |
• Ignore your recall? | • Afraid to get in your car? |
• Jump up at visitors? | • Possessive with toys or food? |
We can help with these hassles & many more by using incentive & distraction training.
At F.E.T.C.H Dog Training we have a wealth of experience in dealing with a wide range of behavioural problems. You don’t need to put up with dominant puppies who nip or try to manipulate you, excitable dogs pulling you by the lead when you go for a walk, or the diggers & jumpers. Even insecure dogs who bark at people or dogs or try to chase cars or bikes and timid rescue dogs who are startled by their own shadow, will benefit from an assessment. We see your dog in its own home to take an holistic view of the environment, lifestyle and breed, all of which play a part in its behaviour.
We can show you how you and your dog can live in harmony so that life together is a rewarding and enjoyable experience with just a basic understanding of the structure a dog needs in a family and how to give them the balance and order they require.
Rather than trying to force a dog to do what we want, our training methods rely on motivating dogs to want to please us. Once the most effective motivation is found for your dog, we can teach them virtually anything as by ensuring the training's really enjoyable to them, they'll be excited & keen to please you. Wagging tails are almost mandatory! Harsh methods & raised voices are simply unproductive and end up over exciting or intimidating your dog depending on their character & no special equipment needed. In fact, initially we don't even use our voice as this can be distracting & agitating to both dog & owner, we simply add the words once a dog understands our body language. (You'll be amazed at what your dog can do without a word being spoken!)
We also offer standard training for sit, stay, recall & walking to heel. While collective puppy classes are not as effective as 1-2-1 sessions, we do cover puppy & rescue dog rehabilitation training. It cannot be emphasised strongly enough how beneficial rehabilitation training can be if administered at an early stage as dogs usually establish their position in the household within 14 days of entering your home!
